Scarlett Johansson, American actress (born on November 22, 1985 in New York City New York) is a star who has been praised for her ability to act across different genres such as the period dramas through thrillers to action films. Johansson was born in New York City, and lived there with her architect father and producer mother. She and her twin brother Hunter were the smallest of the four siblings. At the age of seven, she was already doing auditions for commercials in the television. She entered the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute shortly after that and was enrolled in The Professional Children's School, Manhattan for further training. In the Off-Broadway production Sophistry she was in the role of Ethan Hawke at age 8 In North directed by Rob Reiner in 1994 she debuted in film.
